EXIF Viewer
View EXIF data from your photos — camera, lens, exposure, date, and GPS — right in your browser.
ToolsSoup's EXIF Viewer is a free online tool that reveals the hidden EXIF metadata stored inside your photos — camera make and model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length, the date and time a shot was taken, orientation, and even GPS coordinates. Just drop in a JPEG and read every tag instantly. Everything runs locally in your browser: no uploads, no sign-up, and your photos never leave your device.
What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata that cameras and smartphones embed inside a photo when it is captured. It records the technical details of the shot — the camera and lens used, exposure time, f-number, ISO speed, focal length, flash status, and the exact date and time — and may also include GPS coordinates marking where the photo was taken. This viewer reads the raw EXIF bytes from your image and presents each tag in plain, readable form.
How to view EXIF data
Inspecting a photo with ToolsSoup takes just a few seconds:
- Click Choose a photo and select a JPEG from your camera or phone.
- See the preview alongside the camera, lens, and exposure details.
- Check the date taken, orientation, and GPS coordinates if present.
- Open the location in Google Maps or click Copy to save the full report as text.
Does my photo have GPS location data?
Many smartphones tag photos with the exact latitude and longitude where they were taken. If your image contains GPS EXIF tags, this tool shows the coordinates and a link to view them on a map. This is a privacy reminder too: before sharing photos publicly, you may want to strip EXIF GPS data so you do not reveal your home or location. Because the EXIF here is parsed entirely in your browser, nothing about your photo is sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Is this EXIF viewer free?
Yes. Every tool on ToolsSoup is completely free to use, with no account, sign-up, watermarks, or hidden limits.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Your photo is read locally in your browser and the EXIF is parsed on your device, so the image is never uploaded, stored, or seen by anyone but you.
Which file formats contain EXIF data?
EXIF is most common in JPEG and TIFF files straight from cameras and phones. PNG, GIF, and WebP usually do not store EXIF, and screenshots or images that have been edited, exported, or run through social media often have their EXIF stripped.
Why does my image show no EXIF data?
Some images simply never had EXIF, while others had it removed. Screenshots, downloaded images, social-media photos, and re-saved files frequently lose their EXIF metadata. If no tags are present, the viewer tells you no EXIF was found.
Can I see where a photo was taken?
If the photo includes GPS EXIF tags, this tool decodes the latitude and longitude and gives you a link to open the exact spot in Google Maps. Not every photo has location data — it depends on whether GPS tagging was enabled when the shot was captured.
How do I remove EXIF data from a photo?
This tool views EXIF rather than editing it, but you can strip metadata by re-saving the image through an editor, taking a screenshot of it, or using a metadata-removal tool. Removing EXIF is a good idea before sharing photos publicly if you want to hide camera details or GPS location.
